Put her in her crib and try shushing and caressing her a bit until you slowly stop both and she is sound asleep. Early is better than late Don’t fall into a trap where you wait for your baby to start crying and get all nervous until you finally start your bedtime routine. Babies produce higher level of melatonin when their tiny little bodies send a signal to their brain that it’s time to sleep. That usually happens around sunset, but since the sunset can be around 9 pm during summer, keep your sleeping schedule around 7 pm. If you wait for your baby to start crying and rubbing her eyes, you’re already late. Overstimulated and overtired babies sleep poorly. Instead, look for the behavior change like when the baby is calm, seems bored and less active. That’s the perfect time to start your bedtime routine. More day sleep means more night sleep Many parents think that their baby has bad sleeping habits at night because she sleeps too much during the day. Well, the fact is, the more the baby rests during the day, the better she will sleep during the night. It doesn’t really make sense, but it’s the holly truth in establishing good sleeping habits, so make sure not to skip the naps. The last thing you want, after a long day, is to have your baby wake every 30 minutes because she is overtired. Juggling between daily tasks and a new baby is never easy and that’s why a lot of parents are desperate to find a way to make their baby sleep.
